Hypnotherapy helps you bring about permanent change. I cannot erase an event from your memory, but I can change the impact it has had on you.
I have used hypnotherapy with clients of all ages and backgrounds, helping them to manage their lives in healthier and more productive ways. Many of my clients have used hypnotherapy to overcome emotional problems and have succeeded in finding their own truth and core values.
What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is a safe, natural technique that bypasses your conscious mind (the part of your brain that rationalises events and thoughts), enabling us to work directly with your subconscious mind. By accessing the subconscious, we can let go of old beliefs and attitudes that are no longer useful, replacing them with new ones which fit better with you today.
How Does Hypnotherapy Work?
We work together to make sense of the feelings you don’t understand and trouble you. You have all the answers inside you, but can’t access them, as they’ve been suppressed by beliefs often inherited from our childhood. These old beliefs may no longer be useful, helpful or give us what we’re looking for, instead, they cause conflict between what we now want and what we believe.
My role is encouraging you to think differently about yourself and your life: to demonstrate that you have choices, where you think that none existed. By changing your thinking, you can see different options available to you and a new way forward.
During all hypnotherapy sessions, you are always fully conscious and in full control. I work in a calm, professional environment which is supportive and caring and above all, non-judgemental.

The Cognitive Behavioural Approach
The cognitive behavioural approach incorporates the methodology and teachings from CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy), CBH (Cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy) and MBCT (mindfulness) with the addition of other coaching therapy methods from a wide variety of disciplines adding up to a unique and effective way of overcoming or managing a wide variety of emotional and physical issues.
Cognitive Hypnotherapy draws from other disciplines such as NLP, Positive Psychology, Gestalt, CBT, Mindfulness and Schema to name a few.
We sometimes carry with us into adulthood patterns of behaviour that were formed during childhood, presenting themselves as a phobia or lack of self belief or anxiety and panic attacks.
A common mistake is to believe that thoughts are facts and the stories generated in your mind are fixed and solid. This creates patterns of behaviour and ways of relating to yourself and others that keeps you from truly engaging in the life you want for yourself. Memories stored in your unconscious mind can be changed and reframed if they are inappropriate to you now.
So often we find ourselves taking advice from our younger self with regard to phobias or self esteem but you are an adult now and would not take important advice from a child in the street, so stop listening to that child in your mind and begin to live the life you desire.
What is Cognitive Hypnotherapy
If it's a problem concerning your mind than I can help.
You are totally in control throughout the treatment I just act as a guide to help you find the solution to your problem, if you have ever been driving and all of a sudden realise you have reached your destination and not remembered getting there that is trance when your subconscious takes over, or maybe watching a film and it ends and you don't remember what it was about. Your subconscious will always keep you safe it just allows you to go into an altered state of mind (trance) and at this time it is possible to reframe negative memories that are maybe holding you back.
In a nutshell, Cognitive Hypnotherapy uses the client's natural trance states (like you experience when driving) to assist in uncovering the feelings, thoughts and memory patterns that led to the problem, and which continue to maintain it. And then we try and change these negative memories in order to reach your solution state.
My approach is significantly different from the traditional schools of Hypnotherapy. We as Cognitive Hypnotherapists draw on recent discoveries and ideas from Evolutionary Psychology, Positive Psychology, Cognitive theory and NLP and incorporate them into a modern idea of hypnosis to provide a framework for therapy. We use a range of techniques drawn from different disciplines that we have found to be the most effective tools for change so far. These are moulded into an approach tailored for the specific needs of each client.
For health, if you accept the premise that the mind and the body communicate with one another, then the quality of the thoughts you have must impact on the stress levels within your body. If you're thinking negatively, or view the world through a gaggle of limiting beliefs, then the body's response to this places an unsustainable burden on the immune system, which can ultimately lead to illness and susceptibility to disease. In that respect, your thoughts create the conditions necessary for your ill-health.
Releasing these negative thought patterns and replacing them with positive ones, creates the conditions necessary to re-build your health. On its own NLP can provide a potent means for personal change. Incorporated within Cognitive Hypnotherapy we think it provides a cutting edge approach to modern therapy that can provide positive change quickly and permanently.
Cognitive Hypnotherapy helps with a lot of problems that you would never have thought it could. Below are just a few but there are many more if your problem is not listed but it concerns your mind then contact me free and we can discuss if I can help. Panic attacks, Phobia's, Exam nerves, I.B.S, Migraines, Pain management, Positive thinking, Fear of flying, Low self-esteem, Stop smoking, Eating disorders, Relationship problems, Depression, Stress and Anxiety, Weight loss, O.C.D, stammering, P.T.S.D.
Using hypnosis, a safe and highly successful therapy, means that we are able to work with the cognitive behavioural techniques at a deeper and more profound level, allowing us to directly influence emotions and behaviour. We are able to deal successfully with the irrational fears and negative thinking patterns that prevent you from getting the best out of your life. The hypnotic state makes us more responsive to positive suggestions and it allows us to use our imagination to bring about positive solutions.
This is a collaborative process and we work together to find what works best for you.
Hypnosis is actually a naturally occurring state. Have you ever been absorbed in a book and simply unaware of what's going on around you? That's a very similar psychological state – one of deep absorption and focussed attention.
Hypnosis is not 'mind control' – you are always in control. And it is not like being asleep - although you will probably feel extremely relaxed. Many say is feels more like a pleasant day dream.
Hypnosis is a calm, easy state allows your 'unconscious' mind to accept positive
suggestions and imagine creative solutions.
What happens in the session?
We will examine the sources of your problem along with the emotional issues - although we don't get bogged down in the past because this is about finding creative solutions to bring about the change you want for the future. We work on developing effective strategies and creating positive suggestions that will help you get to your goal, and we then use hypnosis to embed these deeply into your ‘unconscious’ mind.
Clinical Hypnotherapy
Trance is a natural state of directed focus that we all experience every day. For example, when we day dream, when we let our mind wander when we are bored, when we are so engrossed in a book that we lose track of time and when we travel to work and somehow arrive without really taking much notice of the journey. Clinical Hypnotherapy when used by our skilled Hypnotherapists at Clear Solutions can harness this natural ability of directed focus to help you to overcome problems such as:
-
Phobias,
-
Smoking Cessation,
-
Panic attacks,
-
Anxiety,
-
Stress,
-
Fear and worry,
-
Symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome,
-
Confidence,
-
Self Esteem,
-
Sleep problems,
-
Unwanted weight gain.
It works by your therapist speaking directly to the subconscious part of your mind (the part that is responsible for your emotions, feelings, forgotten memories and other things like your heart rate and breathing) and our therapist can help you to re-programme your thought and behaviour patterns so that you can overcome problems and experience more abundance in your life. At all times in hypnotherapy, you are in control.
It is you who decides when to enter trance and you can also decide when you want to come out of it. You are able to speak and to move around if you wish, and although your attention is focused on the therapist, you are still aware of what is happening around you and of the everyday sounds in the room. Most people find it a very relaxing and enjoyable experience. Hypnotherapy is a collaborative process and it is important to understand that change happens because you want it to happen and because you are prepared to take the necessary steps to allow it to happen.
Our highly qualified therapists at Clear Solutions are fully experienced and observe the Codes of Ethics as laid down by their professional bodies including The GHR, The National Council for Hypnotherapy, and The National Council of Psychotherapists so that you will receive the best possible care.
